The EasyCommerce FedEx Shipping Addon connects your store directly to FedEx so your customers see accurate, real-time shipping costs the moment they enter their delivery address at checkout. Instead of guessing flat rates or manually maintaining a price table, every quote is pulled live from FedEx using your own FedEx account, your store's origin address, and the actual weight of the cart.
Built as a native extension for the EasyCommerce ecommerce plugin, the addon plugs straight into the EasyCommerce checkout and order workflow. Shoppers choose from the FedEx services that are genuinely available for their destination, the selected rate is applied to the order total automatically, and your team can generate a FedEx shipping label and tracking number right from the order screen.
When a customer enters or changes their postal code at checkout, the addon contacts the FedEx Rate API and returns live shipping costs based on the package weight and the route from your store to the buyer. No more outdated rate tables or shipping losses from under-charged orders.
- Rates are fetched on demand as the shipping address is entered.
- Quotes reflect the real distance from your store origin to the destination.
- Costs are calculated from the actual cart weight, converted automatically for FedEx.
Before any rate is shown, the addon checks the FedEx Service Availability API for the buyer's location. Only the FedEx services that can actually deliver to that address are offered, so customers never select a method that FedEx cannot fulfill.
- Returned rates are filtered against the services available for that destination.
- Each available FedEx service (for example, FedEx Ground, FedEx Express Saver, or FedEx Priority Overnight) is presented with its live price.
- Options are sorted from the lowest cost first, making the cheapest choice easy to find.
Quotes are requested against your own FedEx account number, so the rates your customers see are tied to your real shipping agreement rather than a generic estimate. The selected method's cost is applied straight to the EasyCommerce cart total and carried through to the order.
- Rates are requested as account-specific quotes using your FedEx account number.
- The chosen FedEx rate is added directly to the order's shipping fee.
Once an order is placed with a FedEx method, a FedEx Shipping panel appears on the order details page. From there, you can create a shipment through the FedEx Ship API, which returns a printable PDF shipping label along with the master and per-package tracking numbers, all saved to the order.
- Generate a FedEx shipment without leaving the EasyCommerce order screen.
- Receive a downloadable shipping label and FedEx tracking numbers for the order.
- Tracking details and label data are stored against the order for later reference.
For cross-border orders, the shipment form captures the details FedEx needs for customs clearance, so you can ship internationally without leaving the dashboard.
- Set the customs value, currency, and who pays duties (sender or recipient).
- Choose the terms of sale and shipment purpose for the commercial invoice.
- Package weight and dimensions are included on every shipment request.
A built-in Test Mode lets you connect to the FedEx sandbox environment with separate test credentials, so you can confirm everything works before going live. Switching to production is a single setting once you are ready.
- Toggle between FedEx test and production environments from the settings screen.
- Keep separate API keys for testing and live operation.
Step 1 – Open EasyCommerce settings and go to Shipping > FedEx, then enter your FedEx API Key, Secret Key, and 9-digit FedEx account number from the FedEx Developer Portal. Use Test Mode with your sandbox keys first if you want to trial the integration.
Step 2 – Confirm your store origin address under General > Business Settings. The business postcode, state, and country are used as the FedEx shipping origin, so accurate values are required for correct rate quotes.
Step 3 – Place a test order and proceed to checkout. After entering a shipping address, live FedEx services and prices appear in the shipping options for the customer to choose from.
Step 4 – Open the completed order and use the FedEx Shipping panel to create a shipment, then download the generated label and tracking number.
Note: This add-on requires the EasyCommerce ecommerce plugin to be installed and active, plus a FedEx developer account with API credentials (API Key, Secret Key, and Account Number) from the FedEx Developer Portal. Your store business address must be set so it can be used as the shipping origin.
Connect your FedEx account today and give your customers accurate, real-time shipping rates at every checkout.
